We are back… and we couldn’t be happier!
We are so pleased to finally have our gates back open to you lovely lot!! Our staff have been well rested and are back with even bigger smiles to welcome you all. To settle us back in the swing of things we have spent the last week serving up our delicious cakes, coffees – in actual coffee cups may we add, what a buzz! As well as our wide range of food, anything from Eggs Benedict on our breakfast menu to Bubble and Squeak on our specials board, you have loved it all! Our chef is thrilled to be back serving up a huge selection of delicious treats, as are our bakers. They have been hard at work throughout it all to provide the goods we all need.
Afternoon teas – As of Monday 24th May we will have opened our afternoon tea diary up for new bookings, we serve our famous Afternoon Teas from 11am – 2:30pm Monday to Sunday. Our diary will be open for bookings until the end of 2021 so this gives lots of opportunity to book in for our famous afternoon teas at any time throughout the year. Although it may seem a little early to be thinking about the festivities and Christmas time just yet – we will be taking bookings for our festive afternoon teas as of Monday. So don’t miss out!!
Safety – To keep you all safe, we are taking all measures to provide a safe and relaxed experience for all our customers, whilst also getting as many people seated as we can. When entering our gates, we provide the NHS track and trace QR code that can be scanned through the app on your mobile phone. However, if you do not have access to the app, no panic, we can manually take your details down so no one will be missed. We appreciate all your patience and understanding throughout this time.
The Birdbox – We hope you all love our birdbox just as much as we do!! It has now returned to its original home outside our café. It provides an outdoor takeaway option for our customers so no extra waiting time when you want to grab a warm sausage roll or sarnie on-the-go. Our birdbox will be open every day the weather allows us to be. If the shutters are down and the rain is falling – we welcome you all into the warm and dry to grab some delicious treats.
Parking – please remember whilst visiting us you must register your car using the iPad provided, this is located near the entrance to our inside cafe area by doing this it will allow you a permit for 2 hours from when you entered the car park.
It has been a year of high and lows for everybody, we are eternally grateful for all the support we have received over this time and the kind words in house and messages on our social platforms.

If you do not hear from us before your booking is due to take place, then unfortunately we still remain closed at this time, and will reschedule your Afternoon Tea as and when we reopen.*
*CAR PARKING FINES. During this time if you receive a car parking fine, please do follow the appeals process on the letter you will have received.
We WILL NOT be able to backdate these upon reopening.
Any parking fines accrued in this time, and not dealt with before closure on 4/11/20 will not be dealt with by the VBC upon reopening.*

Hello Birdies!
We’d just like to pop a quick reminder on here for all of our lovely customers regarding our Parking Permit Scheme that is in place here at the Birdcage.
As most of you may know- to park with us during your visit, a parking permit must be issued to your vehicle.
This is done by entering your vehicle registration upon arrival into our parking permit iPad, located at the front of the Cafe, near the till.
The vehicle registration must be entered correctly, so please double check before submitting. Otherwise a permit will not be issued, and a parking fine may occur. We unfortunately cannot amend your registration if entered incorrectly.
We understand sometimes life is busy – and this is the furthest thing from your mind when visiting us. However, we hope the signage situated around the car park and on our tables will help to remind you to do so! Before ordering those all important treats! Otherwise it may turn into an unnecessarily expensive day out!!

*Takeaway orders* we still recommend that you enter you vehicle registration into our iPad system before placing your order with us, as sometimes there may be a short delay on food/ drinks.
We all know that these times have certainly been strange, and guidelines surrounding COVID-19 are ever- changing.
But here at the VBC we want our customers and staff to feel at ease when visiting, having everyones safety at highest priority.
We’ve put together a few simple steps to follow when you are visiting- wether it be for sitting in, or if your taking away!
*Face coverings are to be worn upon entering the VBC, and whilst moving around the premises. Once seated at a table, you are able to remove your face covering. Take away customers must wear a face covering at ALL TIMES.
*NHS Test & Trace system must be used upon entering the Cafe by ALL customers. QR scan codes available on all tables.
*Social distancing is paramount- table service, socially distanced table configurations, and contactless payments from the table where applicable. No till service (unless for takeaway.)
*Antibacterial hand santiser is available on each table, at the till point, and at various sanitisation points around the Cafe.
*Regular deep cleaning of all public and non-public spaces will be taking place throughout the day. Each table is cleaned with antibacterial spray thoroughly before a new customer is seated, along with issuing new disposable menus, and cutlery.
*Windows and doors will remain open where possible to increase ventilation.
*Our Bird-box (situated in the carpark) will be open for takeaways*– to ease congestion from the main Cafe till point.
*Providing we have enough staff to maintain this facility.
*If you are experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms, or feel unwell- please do stay at home.

Here at the VBC we try to go above and beyond for all of our customers and we are so fortunate to have a fantastic team to help achieve this! They are so dedicated and work incredibly hard on a daily basis, we love what we do and appreciate all of our continued support from our customers.
We all know that these unprecedented times have been particularly hard on some. So, by delivering hundreds of free meals every day to elderly and vulnerable members of the community it enabled us to lend that helping hand, and friendly face to talk to wherever we could!
